You and I exist in a world in which we have to endure so much in order to function, let alone
thrive. We are always moving from one thing to another, one task to another, not always aware
of the emotional, physical & spiritual effects that level of constant carrying has on us. Often, it i
not until we have exhausted our reserve and resolve that we look to recharge. This is not God’s
desire for our lives. In God, we are able to find true rest and rejuvenation. Jesus not only
models service, love and righteousness for us but also rest. If we are not careful, we can end
up hardened by the heaviness we have to hold.
This week, make time to reflect on how efficiently you are actually functioning in the world. Are
you more tired than what they know? Is functioning in that fatigue pleasing to God? Make up
your mind to be intentional about taking time to restore and revive yourself in the presence of
God. Do something nice for yourself and, while doing that, spend time in God presence on
purpose. Rest is spiritual and there is no better rest we can get than when we rest in the
presence of the Holy Spirit. Set down somewhere…rest…and then get back to what God has
for you to do. Love you to life. Have a blessed week.
Peace, Pastor Holmes
