To be joint heirs in the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ is a beautiful thing. And to have
practices and patterns specific to that relationship with God is both intimate and important
That said we do something dangerous when we confuse our religious rituals with what it
means to be in true relationship with Jesus Christ. When our lifted hands mean more than
loving our neighbors or our commitment to routines is deeper than our commitment to
righteousness, we find ourselves functioning in distorted discipleship…we become “enemies
of the cross” and misrepresent what it means to have relationship with God.
This week, make time to think about what has more value to you in your walk with Jesus;
religion or relationship? Make up your mind to put appropriate energy towards aligning your
life with what Jesus prioritizes: deep love for God, loving all of God’s people & righteousness in
the world. When we claim Jesus but don’t look like Jesus, we interrupt the kingdom work God
is trying to do through us. Let us examine ourselves to ensure we are not enemies of the cross
of Christ. Love you to life. Have a blessed week

Peace,
Pastor Holmes
