“As long as it is day, we must do the works of him
who sent me.”
- John 9:4
We live in a world of distractions…attractive
alternatives to that which we should be focused
on. And while fun is good and laughter is
therapeutic, we should also be able to recognize
when that which entertains us is keeping us from
that which we should be concentrating on. If we
are not careful, we will find ourselves in
comfortable disobedience to the will of God.
Even if the distractions give us rest from realities
that we do not want to deal with, we have to
value the things of God, the work God has for us
to do.
This week, make time to be in prayer about what
exactly the Lord would have you doing in this
season. Make up your mind to not allow any
distractions (even the convenient, comfortable
ones) take your energy away from the work God
has set before you. Rest as you need to. Do not
allow seriousness to compromise your joy. But
commit (or recommit) yourself what God has
called us to and seek strength to not be as easily
distracted from that which deserves our focus.
Love you to life. Have a blessed week.
Peace,
Pastor Holmes
